TELEVISION bride Sam Lilley's big day has gone to pot -- after she broke her ankle in a fall.

After months of planning and with millions expected to watch her marry Bolton barber Darren Foster live on TV in Cyprus on Friday, the bride will certainly be blushing as she is wheeled down the aisle.

Sam appeared on television on Thursday morning in a wheelchair with a plaster cast on her ankle after a fall late the previous evening.

But the wedding will go ahead as Sam marries 31 year-old Darren at a ceremony in St George's Chapel in Paphos. Sam, aged 23, said: "I'm not doing too badly. It's a bit sore but I will be fine. I'd had nothing to drink and was totally sober!"

The couple have spent the past 12 weeks in a whirl since their big day was selected to be featured on the ITV breakfast show.

They have been together for five years and been engaged for three. They will tie the knot surrounded by close family and friends but watched by millions of viewers across the UK.

Sam, of Hollins in Bury, and Darren, of Radcliffe, have spent the past week in Cyprus to meet legal requirements to marry on the island.

Their guests, including best man Clive Powers and Sam's three bridesmaids, arrived yesterday along with the florist, make-up artist and hairdresser.

Darren said: "I'm getting excited, but there are no nerves yet.

"Maybe they will kick in later."

GMTV viewers have been voting for several weeks on all aspects of the wedding from the cake to the dress and even the hair and make-up.

Viewers will see Darren and Sam live from 7am on Friday.
