WHAT an inspired piece of planning by somebody in Bolton Town Hall.
At a time when there are temporary traffic lights at the Dunscar end of Darwen Road, they decide to close Turton Road under the bridge.
Last evening I had business in Turton Road, from where I can see my house several hundred yards away. One hour 30 minutes later I got to it via a long queue in Tonge Moor Road; a longer queue along Crompton Way, and a frustrating long queue along Blackburn Road to the War Memorial.
I suffered all this for the privilege of moving at snail's pace along a Darwen Road congested with awkwardly parked cars, to wait, what seemed at this stage an interminably long time, for a green light on a temporary traffic light.
It must have needed a very complex computer to plan a situation like that, and the guy pressing the buttons must certainly live well away from Bromley Cross.
He managed to plan all this on a Bank Holiday followed by a day back to work, and believe it or not, he gave the Turton Road workmen a day off to ensure no progress was made to open it again.
We get so many of these crazy bits of planning in Bolton MBC, surely somebody should be moved from Misplanning to Explaining.
