A FORMER model who starred as the face of a police recruitment drive in Greater Manchester has been bailed after being arrested on suspicion of deception.

Laura Nagulapalli, aged 37, who became Greater Manchester Police's 8,000th recruit in January, was detained in July at her home in Adlington.

She is accused of deception relating to a mortgage application concerning events which happened before she joined the force.

PC Nagulapalli attended a police station in Lancashire and has been rebailed.

As part of the recruitment drive, she was pictured with Chief Constable Michael Todd when he welcomed the force's new intake at a ceremony at the police training centre in Sedgley Park, Whitefield.

PC Nagulapalli is serving with the Wigan division and has been placed on restricted duties.

Mr Todd was promoting the fact that GMP had reached its target of 8,000 officers.

The Malaysian-born mother-of-one, who is serving with the Wigan division, has been placed on restricted duties while the investigation continues.

PC Nagulapalli previously worked as an air stewardess and a sales manager.

Before moving to Lancashire, she has lived in Australia, Mauritius, the Middle East and the Far East.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We can confirm that a serving officer in Greater Manchester Police who has an address in Chorley has been rebailed to a later date."
