CHORLEY'S final home game of the season produced one of the poorest performances as Barrow picked up a rare 15 point win.

Having been put in by Nigel Heaton the visitors lost both openers without scoring a run and a terrific spell from Stephen John kept Barrow on the back foot.

Only visiting professional Raul Lewis could make an impression and when John removed him LBW to make it 71 for 6, Lewis had scored a remarkable 63 of them.

From this point Chorley needed to remove the tail quickly, but Bamber and Mowitt bolstered Barrow's cause with easily the biggest partnership of the day adding 72.

John bowled a quite superb spell to finish with excellent figures of six wickets for 27 runs off 22 overs.

The Chorley reply was a sorry effort.

Only Nicky Woods with a gritty 42 and Paul Greenwood (12) reached double figures as wickets tumbled regularly.

Wearing eventually picked up 5/32 as Chorley were bowled out for a paltry 98.

AFTER a delayed start at Darwen on Monday due to a sodden pitch, Tom Smith and Ian Oakes gave Chorley a good start with an opening stand of 54.

However, once Smith had holed out at long on and Oakes fell to a fine catch by keeper Lowe, only Greenwood and Senior reached double figures as the innings terminated on 127.

Chorley though fought back with John removing John Cordingley and professional Sample while Billy Smith trapped Gareth Cordingley LBW to leave the home side 8 for 3. Smith won a second LBW claim to get rid of Jackson and at 19/4, Darwen were struggling.

However Neil Cordingley with a vigilant unbeaten 54 supported by Grant (22) and Clarke (32*) saw Darwen ease their way to a five wicket win.

On Saturday Chorley travel to Kendal.
