BOLTON South East MP Brian Iddon took up Boots' offer of a free cholesterol test.
The tests are available at the Bolton branch of the high street chain to support the Kick Cholesterol Campaign.
Many people believe that high cholesterol affects those who are over weight or inactive but it can affect anyone, including those with healthy lifestyles.
Dr Iddon said: "I hope this will raise awareness of these issues and to encourage people to take action to improve their own health, and that of their families." The MP's cholesterol was "a little higher than expected but nothing to worry about".
