WATER quality in Bolton has been improved. A report by the Drinking Water Inspectorate has stated that Greater Manchester now enjoys better tap water than ever before.
United Utilities is spending more than £3 billion on improving the water and environment of the area, the largest investment of its kind in the UK.
The water treatment process for the area has been improved by the company's work on the Lostock water treatment works.
The Landcare fund of United Utilities has allowed for the opening of a new BMX track and recreational ground at Heywood.
Jo Luckhurst, corporate responsibility manager at United Utilities said: "As a company we don't just tick the corporate responsibility box, but believe we are duty bound to have a positive impact on the region we operate in every minute of the day."
United Utilities is committed to further improvements with more projects in the pipeline having signed a three-year contract with Groundwork, an environmental regeneration organisation.
