HERE is my open letter to the director of finance, Chorley Borough Council.
With reference to the article, 'We want action, say unhappy residents', The Citizen, August 4, I should be grateful if you would explain to me why I am not entitled to a council tax rebate for the past four years.
I have just celebrated my fourth year in our new Bryant home in Milestone Meadow on the old ROF site in Euxton.
I understand that the purchase of a new home covers the cost of all services and that part of my council tax pays for the upkeep of those services by the council.
To date, the following services have still not been completed:
Roads not surfaced.
Pavements not completed.
Street lighting not fully operational.
Road drains not operational - some water grids are sprouting vegetation!
Street signage not completed.
Public open spaces not finished.
Children's play area not even started and resembles a tip.
The newly built scout hut inaccessible with dangerous open manhole covers.
It is further understood that, until the builder completes the above outstanding works, the council will not adopt the area - then why am I paying council tax for a service I am not receiving, having already paid once for those services?
There appears to be a complete state of apathy and incompetence between the builders Bryant and the council with the residents, as piggy-in-the-middle.
Enough is enough; either get the council to complete the works and bill Bryant or sanction a council tax rebate until the works are completed.
I must add, in this open letter to you, that I find the council under the current Labour leadership full of platitudes and appearing totally impotent or unwilling to act in this matter.
Yours, a very dissatisfied resident.
Mr A J Hoe, Milestone Meadow, Euxton.
