Leigh v Forest Green - LEIGH RMI are hoping to sign a couple of players to fill the void left by Gareth Holmes and Karl Rose.
The two influential players suffered hand and knee injuries respectively against Morecambe on Monday, but fears they would be sidelined beyond Christmas were premature as the latest reports indicate they will be out for about a month.
Even so, with a small squad at his disposal, manager Phil Starbuck needs to keep up the numbers and is looking at either loan deals or players currently without clubs.
RMI have targeted Wales U21 international striker Michael Byrne.
The 19-year-old Stockport County forward - who was on the books of Bolton Wanderers as a youngster - has struggled to make an impact in the first team at Edgeley Park.
He said: "I know I have a small budget and can't offer big wages, but there are players out there who haven't got a club, so I will try to get them in if I can."
RMI, still looking for their first win in five outings take on Forest Green Rovers on Saturday, the only Conference team without a point this season.
The Railwaymen have picked up just one point, and the manager admitted that a win was vital. He said: "Things have not gone for us this season, but apart from the 3-0 defeat against Halifax, we have played well.
"Three points are imperative for us.
"I am disappointed as regard to results but I can't ask more from the players."
Leigh will again be without Gregor Rioch, who has a knee injury.
