AS a Volunteer Officer (from Bolton) with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV), both I and other colleagues feel let down by your articles.
"Walk again among the flowers of chivalry", August 17, and, "We can rest", August 19, they don't paint the true picture.
Without ignoring the main purposes of these projects, and the tremendous help from others, the BTCV project leaders and volunteers implemented the majority of the groundwork on both sites. These projects took an intense amount of logistics, organisation and hard work, with all involved being focused on getting the job completed, as I am sure you will agree, with fantastic results.
With nearly all of the BTCV volunteers being made up of the long and short term unemployed, semi-retired, part-time workers, graduates seeking work experience, and others, I think we deserved a token acknowledgement in the two articles. This would publicise the array of work we do for the LOCAL community, and possibly get more people involved.
