FIREFIGHTERS were called to battle a blaze that broke out at a derelict mill in Leigh. The fire started at the former Brentwood Brothers mill in Leigh Road yesterday morning.
Three fire engines attended the blaze, which is believed to have been started deliberately. The fire spread through the ground and first floor and left flooring damaged.
Crews searched the mill, which is a well-known hangout for homeless people to check that nobody was inside. The building was badly smoke-damaged.
