A WOMAN had to be cut free from her car after it careered off the M61 and flipped on to its roof.
The woman was driving a Volkswagen Golf with another woman when she lost control near the Kearsley spur at Junction 3 last night. The car ran down a bank and came to rest on its roof.
The car's passenger managed to free herself from the wreckage of the car and suffered only minor injuries.
Paramedics treated the driver before fire crews arrived to free her with cutting equipment.
She was rushed to the Royal Bolton Hospital with head and chest injuries where her condition is described as stable.
Both women were in their late thirties and from the Blackpool area.
