BOLTON'S young tennis star George Morgan increased his chances of a trip to Center Parcs, at Sherwood Forest, to play in the finals of the Sunday Telegraph Center Parcs Junior Tennis Grand Prix, after his latest performance in the Manchester JAG 234 Tennis Tournament.
The event, held at the Northern Tennis Club, in Manchester, involved some of Britain's finest 12-and-under tennis stars. After winning his earlier matches in the tournament, George was paired in the final against Shropshire's Stuart Pugh, unfortunately losing in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
The Grand Prix consists of 57 tournaments across the country, scheduled between April and August, with players picking up performance related points at all the events they participate in. George's latest performance will give him 80 points towards his Grand Prix total for the year.
The Junior Grand Prix Series has five age groups up to 18-and-under. Players compete in LTA tournaments throughout the school holidays to accumulate "leader board" points in their age group depending on the finishing position in each individual tournament.
Players finishing in the top five of each category, plus one LTA wildcard, then qualify for the televised Masters finals on Septemebr 17-20.
10 and under and 12 and under Masters, weekend September 17-20 at Center Parcs, Sherwood Forest.
14 and under/16 and under/18 and under players fly to La Manga Club in November for their Master's.
