MOST men are afraid of visiting their doctor, a survey has shown.

A new campaign aims to boost men's awareness of their health, particularly of their prostate, in a bid to encourage them to seek early medical help for any problems.

The Time to Go campaign revealed almost 70 per cent of respondents said embarrassment prevents men from seeing their GP about bladder problems with 46pc citing fear as a reason for avoiding medical help and 31 pc apathy.

The average person visits their GP four times a year, but 46 per cent of older men said they visited their GP twice or less in the past 12 months from the 2,148 men aged over 50 who were questioned by HI Europe.
