ROADS in Bromley Cross closed off last weekend because of emergency repair work, causing traffic chaos for commuters, have been reopened.
Chapeltown Road and Turton Road were closed last Saturday as highways engineers carried out resurfacing work -- without giving advance warning.
As reported in Wednesday's Bolton Evening News, villagers criticised the council for not informing them that the roadworks were about to take place. The emergency closures caused major problems for both motorists and residents -- with long tailbacks during the rush hour period and Bank Holiday Monday. Buses had to be diverted away from Turton Road because of the road closures, which left some residents without a bus service.
The emergency work carried out by council engineers was completed on Thursday morning.
