THE unsung heroines who underpin the daily life of the town are being sought by the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Prentice Howarth.

She wants to hear about local females of all ages for the annual Bolton Woman of the Year Awards and Luncheon which is being held next month.

The winner - who will be announced at the popular event at the Platinum Suite of the Reebok Stadium on Friday, October 29 - will receive a handsome award.

"But it is a rare chance to honour and highlight these special women," the Mayor explained.

"And I hope that everyone will use this opportunity to put forward the names of local females who work tirelessly in all areas of life and whose care and concern is so vital to so many people."

She wants to hear about hard-working charity workers, inspirational teachers and unselfish parents dedicated to giving their children the best in life.

The Bolton Woman of the Year may be a lively lollipop lady, a chatty careworker or just some individual who has quietly worked in the background for years helping others.

Entry forms are available from Sally Hayes, the Mayor's Secretary at Bolton Town Hall, tel 01204-331057, email sally.hayes@bolton.gov.uk

Tickets, priced at £16.50 for the four-course meal with speakers and awards' presentation, are available from the same address.
