Westhoughton celebrated their first Bolton League championship win in 24 years at the weekend and immediately set their sights on the treble.

They added the league title to their earlier Hamer Cup Final success -- the first side to do the double since Tonge achieved the feat in 1996 -- and on Sunday they go to Old Trafford to meet Bootle in the final of the Lancashire Knockout when they could become the first Bolton team to pick up all three trophies.

Their title win came at Heaton and it was perhaps fitting that two of their players, pro Antonio Mayers and Ian Pilkington, who have proved so influential this season, should also pass personal milestones.

Mayers captured his 100th wicket of the season and could follow that up by reaching 1,000 runs in Saturday's final match, while Pilkington joined the elite band of batsmen to have scored 10,000 runs in the Bolton League.

Westhoughton went into the penultimate game of the season with a 28-point lead over reigning champions Walkden and then made sure they could not be caught in next week's final fixtures by claiming an eight-wicket win at Lower Pools.

The victory was set up by fine bowling performances from Mayers and Paul Hart.

The West Indian claimed 5-42 while Hart picked up 4-34 to leave Heaton all out for 140.

Mayers then took over with the bat hitting an unbeaten 47, but it was Pilkington, Westhoughton's batting hero in so many games this season, who top scored with 53 not out in the reply of 141-2.

That was enough to take them out of reach of defending champions Walkden, but they did not go down without a fight as they hammered 255-2 at Greenmount, Aussie pro Peter Roach leading the way with an unbeaten 119.

David Smith also hit 57, and Sam Reidy scored 22 runs off the last five balls of the match to claim his half century.

Greenmount were then bowled out for 179, David Smith doing most of the damage with 4-50, while home pro Shetty top scored with 57.

There were other century makers on a day when runs flowed off the bat, Tonge's Adil Nisar hit 130 not out and took 5-75 as his side overhauled Farnworth Social Circle's 206-8, Dean Eckersley scoring 72 for Circle. At Eagley, Chuck O'Rourke hit 120 in their 100-run win over Kearsley. Eagley totalled 248-6 while Kearsley were dismissed for 148, only Rick Hamblett (57 not out) and Anthony Fisher (34), showing any resistance against the bowling of Steve Foster, who finished with 5-33.

Egerton also found runs easy as they hammered Little Lever by 188 runs. They totalled 247-7 with Gary Garner hitting 78, Iqbal Patel 74 and Mark Price 41. They then dismissed Little Lever for a meagre 59, Ian Taylor taking 6-34 including a hat-trick, Chris Tye 2-7 off seven overs and Mark Price 1-3 off five overs.

Horwich enjoyed a seven wicket win over Astley Bridge, pro David White taking 6-47 as Bridge were dismissed for 138.

Grant Long then led the Horwich charge to a winning 140-3 with an innings of 60, while White finished unbeaten on 31.

Farnworth were eight wicket winners at Bradshaw after the home side were bowled out for 137, pro Chris Street producing his best bowling return of the season with 7-35.

Farnworth then raced to 140-2, Falcon Patel top scoring with 46 and Tim Barrow unbeaten on 38.
