A TWELVE year-old boy suffered injuries to his arms and legs when he plunged 25 feet through two floors of a derelict building from an attic space.
The youngster and a friend had climbed up scaffolding to the roof level of a former bakery, which is under renovation, on Marsh Fold Lane, Heaton.
The two friends are believed to have got inside the secured building and started climbing along the roofing joists at around 4.50pm last night.
One of the boys lost his footing and fell from the attic space. He crashed through the joists of the first floor, and landed at ground floor level.
His friend went for help, and firefighters were called to the two-storey end-terrace property.
The injured boy received firstaid at the scene from fire crews, and was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital by ambulance.
He suffered injuries to his body, arms and legs, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
Fire chief Sean Walton said: "The boy was very lucky to escape with relatively minor injuries.
"A fall from this height could have been much worse. This accident highlights the dangers of children playing on scaffolding and in empty properties."
