TWO people have been charged with theft as part of a crackdown on car Crime in Breightmet and Tonge Moor.

The pair were arrested in August as part of Operation Fendi, and have been charged with two counts of theft from a vehicle.

One of the men also faces one count of handling stolen goods.

The operation, aimed at driving down car crime, in the area has seen officers use surveillance and intelligence gathering techniques aimed at stopping prolific criminals.

The men will appear separately at Bolton Magistrates Court later this month.

Insp Tony Kenyon of Astley Bridge Police said: "This is part of our ongoing commitment to target those offenders who are responsible for committing a large proportion of crime in the area.

"These people should realise that we are working hard and we will not give up in our campaign to disrupt their activities.

"So far the operation has had a significant impact on cutting car crime and the public should be reassured that we will conduct further operations. To do this we need help from them in the form of information."
