PARKING Attendants - the council spawned this monster, fed and nurtured it, and now are finding that it is turning on them with teeth bared!
Yes, I do agree with Council leader Barbara Ronson that it makes the town look silly! Then do something about it, debate it in chamber and committee and look at the damage it is doing to the town and be aware of the number of outside shoppers who have come to Bolton, received a Parking Penalty Notice, and vowed never to return - and don't!
Mrs Ronson, ask yourself why Middlebrook car parks are constantly full and tills constantly ringing!?
Come on, Bank Holiday Monday, a public celebration put on by the local authority, an excellent fun day for families throughout Bolton and beyond, the Octagon car park closed and no relaxation in parking restrictions! Under the circumstances, the receipt of a Parking Penalty Notice on the mayoral car is beyond belief. Perhaps the Mayor's Chamber may just have to "put up and shut up" or the councillors decide to settle down and make some radical changes to parking policy in our town, before it becomes a town with no cars at all - they will have taken shoppers elsewhere!
