THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised by the Bolton and District Round Table to provide local disabled children with special wheelchairs.
A Round Table team completed a 33-mile trek over 15 mountain tops in Snowdonia and collected £3,500 afterwards in sponsorship.
The Bolton Round Table, which is now in its fifth year, decided to tackle the "Welsh 3000ers challenge" to raise money for Whizz Kidz, a charity which provides motorised wheelchairs for disabled children.
The challenge involved climbing the 15 summits, all more than 3000ft high, in just 24 hours, although the group saw little of the scenery because of foggy and freezing weather. However, it did not stop them pausing at the top of the highest summit, Snowdon, to give new recruit Toby Williamson his membership badge.
Anyone interested in joining the Round Table should call chairman Craig Knights on 0161-702-7772.
