A NEW £200,000 community hall is set to bring residents together in a deprived area of Horwich.
Residents in the Brazley area will be able to use the new centre on Cedar Avenue, which will house a youth club, residents committees, and local councillors' ward surgeries.
Other groups who may be interested in using the centre, which will provide a focal point for residents, are being asked to come forward to book a time slot.
The purpose built centre was completed in July, after being identified as a major priority for Brazley after consultation with residents. A grant of more than £200,000 was provided by the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, which provides money to community projects in deprived areas.
Local people saw everything the centre has to offer at the open day, held on Sunday. It was an opportunity for residents to find out how they can benefit from the building, which will be available seven days a week.
There were refreshments and entertainment, including a Punch and Judy show, face painting, table football as well as a cake and sweet stall.
The hall will be managed by volunteers from the local community. To book the hall or for more information call Cllr Stephen Rock on 01204 437820.
