A GOOD Samaritan who helped a woman and her dying husband while on holiday has come forward.
Retired care worker Carol Ashworth, aged 56, from Horwich, responded to a letter which appeared in the Bolton Evening News last week from Keith Jones, of Rhuddlan, Denbighshire.
He wanted to thank a Bolton woman who had stayed with his mother when his father had a heart attack in Rhos-on-Sea, North Wales. His father later died.
The letter said: "A kind lady apparently from Bolton took on the reins of responsibility, making my father as comfortable as possible until the ambulance services arrived.
"Our family is deeply grateful to this kind lady's assistance".
Mrs Ashworth said: "We were on our way back from Llandudno and decided to stop in Rhos-on-Sea for a coffee.
"Someone knocked on the window of the cafe saying a man had collapsed and my husband Michael and I ran out.
"I sat the man up and loosened his shirt and tried to make him as comfortable as possible, but I knew he was very poorly.
"I just wanted to stay with the man's wife because I know if that was my mum I'd want someone with her. She was very brave and I just couldn't leave her."
Mrs Ashworth was a care worker for 23 years in Horwich and Deane before retiring recently.
The Bolton Evening News will putting Mr Jones in touch with Mrs Ashworth.
