I KNEW it would not remain a mystery for long. The "new bus" which I featured on this page last week was identified immediately by reader Edward Evans of Tonge Moor Road, Bolton.
Edward, who tells me he is a bus enthusiast who collects bus photographs of Bolton, says: "JBN 142 (fleet number 11) is a Bedford SBO with Duple 41 seat coachwork. New in May, 1956, it was the first and only coach that Bolton Corporation Transport bought. It was used on Private Hire work."
He goes on: "The coach was sold in May, 1962 to Lightfoot Coaches, Widnes. Then to Parry Coaches of Llithfaen in 1965 and sold for scrap in 1970."
Impressive stuff.
