A GROUP of South African Zulu schoolchildren are enjoying activities in Bolton as part of an exchange visit.
Eight students from the Esibonisweni School in Kwa Zulu Natal are visiting pupils at St Joseph's High School in Horwich.
They will be in Bolton for the next three weeks, based at the Anderton Centre, a United Utilities outdoor recreation centre on the shore of the Lower Rivington Reservoir.
The Zulu pupils have been learning about cultural differences between Britain and South Africa, and have been attending lessons at St Joseph's to get a feel for school life in England.
They will also have a trip to the Lake District and will spend two days in London.
Eleven pupils from St Joseph's have raised more than £13,000 over the last year so the exchange could take place. They have been supervised in their efforts by a team of parents and teachers from the school.
Group leader Dave Mulligan said: "This has provided an opportunity for young people from two very different communities to share and explore issues which affect them, as well as learning to value the cultural heritage of our two countries."
