RAIL enthusiasts can enjoy the golden age of steam on screen at an archive film show on Saturday.
The Railways Remembered event will recall the history of railways and transport in the North-west, showing footage shot more than 60 years ago.
Visitors will be able to enjoy films showing locomotives from around the country, including a film celebrating 60 years of West Coast Mainline trains and the streamlined Coronation Scot Express.
There will also be talks on vintage railway films by Leicester-based expert and film collector Rob Foxen.
The show, at Trinity Church, Higher Market Street, Farnworth, will open from 10.30am, and enthusiasts and collectors of archive films will be able to buy, sell and exchange equipment.
There will also be a stall from Horwich Locomotive Society, selling steam memorabilia.
The show is in its second year, following the success of last year's event. Fellow organiser Dennis Parkinson said: "We had such a wonderful time last year. People came from all over the country.
"It gives people a great chance to catch up on local history and provides a great meeting place for film and steam enthusiasts."
Tickets cost £5 or £4.50 concessions and can be bought on the door or by calling Dennis Parkinson on 01204 571843. Money raised will be used in the restoration and copying of historic railway films.
