CHORLEY Lynx want coach Mark Lee to stay at the club despite the team's failure to make the National League Division Two promotion play-offs.

The team's disappointing 28-16 defeat at London Skolars on Sunday has seen the side fall to seventh place in the league although a play-off place was already beyond their reach after the previous week's defeat to Swinton.

But the Lynx management think Lee has done a good job in difficult circumstances following the departure of Darren Abram just before the start of the season.

Chorley Sporting Club manager Dennis Ramsdale said: "We definitely want Mark to stay.

"He has done a marvellous job with limited resources and has built up a brilliant spirit among all the players.

"We hope he will commit himself to the club fairly soon so we can have some stability here and avoid a large scale movement of players in and out of the club which has happened over the last couple of years.

"We have the nucleus of a very fine squad at Lynx and if we can bring in a couple of quality players we could soon be a force to be reckoned with.

"It's true that we haven't made the play-offs which was disappointing but you have to be realistic and Mark came in very late in the day and had little time to get a squad together at the start of the season

"He had a tough time at the start as we were in a difficult group in the Arriva Trains Cup and we had some close matches when we were narrowly defeated. But you have to look at more than the results.

"The spirit among the players is brilliant and I think that has rubbed off on the supporters who have also been magnificent.

"Support among people in Chorley has been a bit slow to take off but it has grown this season there must have been nearly a hundred who travelled down to London on Sunday and their vocal support was tremendous.

"Overall I think we are in a better position at Lynx than we have been for a number of years."

Lynx's final league match of the season is against York at Victory Park on Sunday and the match will be followed by the supporters' player of the season presentations.
