SCHOOLCHILDREN in Kenya are to benefit from computers donated from Chorley people.
More than 20 computers and printers will be donated to The Children of Watamu charity later this month following an appeal by Chorley Computer Club.
The units will then be shipped over the east African country to be used in schools which are desperately short of educational resources.
Once installed, plans are in place for the children to interact with the members of the computer club via the internet.
Jim Vale, vice-chairman of the club, said: "We are hoping to be in contact with pupils and staff on-line. We will help them with any computing questions they have and advise them about how to get the best use out of the equipment.
"These PCs are becoming dated over here, but they will be a very valuable facility in the Kenyan schools."
The club has also recently helped with computer training and provided equipment to Chorley and Preston MIND and SCOPE charities and supplied two PCs to Lancashire Air Ambulance fundraisers.
