THE official opening of the new Jobcentre Plus in Chorley takes place today, Wednesday, September 8.
The Mayor of Chorley Danny Gee will do the honours at the Hamilton Road building at 9am.
Jobcentre Plus is a new comprehensive service for employers and jobseekers claiming benefit. It replaces the employment Benefit Service and Benefits Agency.
Steve Johnson, district manager for Jobcentre Plus Lancashire West, said: "The opening of a Jobcentre Plus office in the town offers us a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make a real difference to the people of Chorley.
"Customers will be able to visit one location for finding jobs and receiving benefit advice.
"They will also benefit for the support and expertise that our personal advisors can offer to help them develop their potential to compete in the employment market."
