THREE fund-raisers were so determined that an Astley Bridge football team should have a new kit that they walked from Bolton to Southport to raise the money.
Rachel Warren, aged 40, her 13-year-old daughter, Amy, and friend Andrew Hoodles, aged 15, raised £300 to buy Astley Bridge Lions under 10s a new strip.
The 35-mile hike took nine hours and, when they reached Southport, they were showered with champagne.
Mrs Warren, of MacKenzie Street, Astley Bridge, said: "I'm still nursing my feet -- they're swollen and I have blisters! I won't be doing it again but it was worth it.
"I'm really proud that I did it but even prouder of the other two. We all helped each other and felt like professional athletes when we'd finished."
