PAUL Sharples was the winner when Lord Nelson angling club travelled to Keele to fish an aggregate match on Cudmore Fisheries Tara Lake.
The first 30 minutes were fished in overcast weather, which suggested a good match.
However, a hot day put paid to good returns, particularly to those who went after the water's big carp.
Sharples did well to catch chub steadily on a worm-baited swim feeder for the top weight of 22lb 4oz.
Alan Hayes was second, catching small carp and barbel on the pole with caster to finish with 20lb 0oz.
Third place went to Ronnie Honeybourne, who caught carp on the pole with pellet for 17lb 8oz.
Other placings: 4. Trevor Hayes 17lb 6oz, 5. Steve Booth 16lb 5oz, 6. Pat Power 16lb 2oz.
