Bolton League champions and Hamer Cup holders Westhoughton missed out on their chance of completing the treble when they were beaten by Bootle in the final of the Lancashire Knockout at Old Trafford.
The Liverpool Competition side made 239-5, with Dave Snellgrove hitting 111, before Westhoughton were bowled out for 112, losing the match by 127 runs. Westhoughton were up against a talented side featuring many experienced former county stars.
And the Bolton League side never recovered after Bootle had made a blistering start.
Snellgrove and Cockbain put on an opening partnership of 62, but it was the second-wicket pairing of Snellgrove and Graham Lloyd that dashed Westhoughton's hopes.
They put on 118 to take the score to 180-2, before Lloyd was caught by Westhoughton pro Antonio Mayers for 54.
Snellgrove, however, continued to punish the bowlers and he pushed the score past 200.
Faced with such a large total, Westhoughton made a brisk start with captain Steve Parker and Ian Pilkington, but once they had been dismissed, the rest of the order fell away.
Pilkington top scored with 37 and Alan Gaskell produced a stubborn innings of 19, but Snellgrove was the man of the match, taking 2-21 to add to his earlier century.
