VOLUNTEERS who can help people going to court are being sought by Bolton's Victim Support and Witness Service.
Witness Service volunteers are based in Bolton Crown Court and offer emotional support and practical information to people going to court.
This includes offering witnesses the chance to visit the court before giving evidence, explaining procedures and accompanying a victim or witnesses into the courtroom.
Spokeswoman Ann McKeever said: "Going to court can be a stressful and bewildering experience, both for the victims of crime and their families, and for witnesses called to give evidence."
The service provides training, support and supervision together with out-of-pocket expenses.
