HE wows the fans at the Reebok, has a range of lookalike miniature toys and has even made a record - now Lofty the Lion is to star in his own musical!

Lofty's Musical Showcase next month will not only feature the Bolton Wanderers' furry mascot at the Albert Halls but will be the venue for him to perform his most challenging charity stunt yet.

Children from Melody Pop Tuition will join other youngsters in a 40-strong cast entertaining with sketches and music from the '60s, '70s and '80s.

And Lofty will be miming to one of the rock 'n' roll favourites that he regularly performs in front of the football faithful at the Reebok.

The show on Saturday, October 2, produced by Melissa Pasquill, will also raise funds for Lofty's October trek across 56 miles of America's Grand Canyon.

He is joining a party of local people raising money for the Children's Hospitals Appeal Trust (CHAT). The charity is buying thousands of pounds worth of hi-tech equipment to help premature babies in the Princess Anne Maternity Unit at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

As well as taking part in the long-distance walk, Lofty intends to make a memorable entrance into the famous Nevada gambling and entertainment city of Las Vegas - wearing his Elvis outfit!

Tickets for Lofty's Musical Showcase cost £4, £2 for children and concessions, available from the Albert Halls' ticket and information centre or at the door on the night.
