ELTON'S Peter Kay celebrated wrapping up the title the previous week, with a century in the final match of the season.

On a day when rain affected almost every match, it was celebration time for the Bury club who posted 196-4, Rashid Riaz 42, before Clifton managed 82-2 before the rain fell, Ian Morris on 31 not out.

Darcy Lever held off the late challenge from Walshaw to finish second in another rain-hit game against Adlington.

Darcy pro Devendra Bundela finished the season on a high note with a superb unbeaten 110 in his side's 223-8.

Adlington pro Matthew Taylor took 5-116 before Adlington made 66-2, Chris Mulligan 28 not out and Andy Robinson 22 not out, before the rain set in.

Walshaw finished six points behind Darcy after another massive batting display against Little Hulton.

Danny Hornby hit 89, Tony Kelly 60 and Rob Faulkner 53 as the Bury side posted an emormous 270-7.

In reply Little Hulton just about held out on at 121-9 with pro Ijaz Mahmood hitting 51. Walshaw pro Jonathan Fielding took 3-57 and Liam Riley went one better with 4-58.

Atherton finished fourth with their last match seeing them held to a draw by Spring View after posting a big total of 242-7.

Philip Wakefield hit an unbeaten 68, Paul Keenan 61 and Neil Bannister 37, before View finished on 173 with two wickets remaining. Mark James and David Gornall both hit 38 and Keenan and Bannister took two wickets apiece for just four and five runs respectively.

It was all about Terry Southworth in the Blackrod stalwart's last ever game for the club.

The 46-year-old, who started at the club as a junior, retired after the game and could not have given himself a better going away present than a memorable seven-wicket haul.

He bowled right through the Lostock innings, as he has done many times through the years, and the visitors must have wished he had retired earlier as they lost all but one of their wickets to the veteran.

Lostock's 177-8 included a fine unbeaten 51 from Phil Hall and pro Lukman Vahaluwala's 44, before Blackrod made 6-0 when the rain ended play.

Southworth, who played in the same team as his son, Jack, before the youngster moved on to Heaton midway through the season, will have a testimonial at Blackrod next Sunday when a Terry Southworth Xl will take on a Blackrod Xl.

Lostock finished second bottom with Golborne below them.

Golborne's Dale Tyrer marked the final match of the season with a superb 106 at Standish.

Chasing Golborne's 194, the home side were on 175-8 with seven over remaining when the rain finished play. Nigel Geary hit 69 and Andy Makinson took 5-33.

Astley and Tyldesley's Nigel Barlow lit up the match against Edgworth with an excellent 103 at his side posted 196-6, David Critchley adding an unbeaten 36 and G. Pandey taking 3-85.

Edgworth's reply was a fine innings of 57 by Chris Bullock as they made 115-3 before rain and an unbeaten 36 from James Cutt.
