THE funeral of a grandmother found stabbed to death in her home in Little Hulton took place on Tuesday

Jacqueline Probert, aged 55, of Jonquil Drive, died in the Royal Bolton Hospital on August 28 after suffering a deep stab wound to her neck.

Her next door neighbour, Thomas Edward Bevan, aged 55, of Jonquil Drive, has been charged with her murder.

The funeral of Mrs Probert, who leaves a husband, Bernard, and two grown up children, was at place at Agecroft Cemetery, Swinton

Her death has deeply affected workers at the Asda store in Farnworth, where she used to work.

Shoppers and staff have been signing a book of condolence at the Brackley Street superstore in memory of Mrs Probert.

Supermarket bosses have drafted in workers from other stores while 70 members who work at the Farnworth store attend the funeral.

Farnworth Asda manager Trish Atkinson said: "We really want to thank staff from stores in Bolton and Bury who are coming to fill in for the staff here so that we can all go to the funeral and remember Jacqueline."

Bevan will appear at Manchester Crown Court on November 5 charged with murder.
