DAVE Challinor was a bitterly disappointed man following the Shakers' 2-2 draw at Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

The influential skipper admitted the result was a 'kick in the guts' and called on his teammates to cut out the mistakes which are costing valuable points.

Challinor was understandably unhappy that the team squandered a two goal lead to leave Shropshire with only one point when their performance for a large portion of the game was worth all three.

"We've dominated the game, gone two in front and then conceded two from set-pieces, which is criminal," he said.

"It was a real kick in the guts and the penny needs to drop soon.

"If we want to be successful this season we have to make sure we win games like that.

"Only to draw when you are so much better than the opposition leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

"We knew it was going to be tough in the Lincoln game last week, the way they play is difficult to counter.

"I think we were a bit overkeen against them and didn't have enough patience, maybe we should have got a 0-0 draw.

"But Saturday was different, we set our stall out to how we wanted to play and Shrewsbury found it difficult.

"Then we went and let ourselves down with the two slip-ups.

"It's not individuals, we defend as a team, but people do need to take responsibility and knuckle down.

"Hopefully that will be the last of it."

To round off a miserable weekend for the Bury captain he was widely reported to have scored the own goal for Shrewsbury's equaliser when the culprit was, in fact, Danny Swailes!
