A SCHOOL secretary has been forced to eat her hat after she was given a plush new office to work in.
Ann Middleton, secretary at St George's High School in Worsley, always said she would eat her hat if she was ever moved out of the old windowless cramped office she had to work in for years.
So when headteacher Philip Harte ordered a new office to be designed for Ann and colleagues Jean Farrell and Angela Adamson, he had a cake in the shape of a hat made for Ann.
Ann, who has worked at the school for ten years said: "I never thought I would see this day, I didn't think I could have to eat my works. The new office is a sign of the school going from strength to strength - just like this years exam results - the best ever."
Mrs Farrell added: " The whole morale of the workforce has been lifted. It's a pleasure to come to work with such an improved environment."
