THE favourite songs of a grandmother found stabbed at her home rang out at her funeral.

More than 150 mourners filled Agecroft Crematorium, Swinton, on Tuesday to pay their respects to Jacqueline Probert.

Along with her family, scores of colleagues from the Asda store in Farnworth where she worked were also present at the service.

Mrs Probert, aged 53, of Jonquil Drive, Little Hulton, died at Royal Bolton Hospital on August 28 after suffering a deep stab wound to her neck.

The service began with Westlife's Flying Without Wings, before a reading and prayers by the Rev Steve Edwards. The Commodores' Three Times a Lady closed the service.

Dozens of floral tributes were placed outside the chapel.

One, in white flowers, simply read "Nana" while other flowers bore messages, including one which read: "We are so sorry this happened to you. We Love you. You were a fantastic lady. Thanks for the memories."

Another, from her colleagues at Asda, read: "To Jackie, a very dear friend, you will be in our heart always. Deeply missed from all your kiosk friends at Asda."

Bosses at the Asda store in Brackley Street brought in staff from other stores so colleagues and friends could attend the service. Shoppers and staff members have been signing a book of condolence at the shop.

A neighbour, Thomas Edward Bevan, aged 55, of Jonquil Drive, has been charged with Mrs Probert murder and with wounding.
