SPARE a thought for Greenmount bowler Mark Stewart, who finished the season just one victim short of 100 wickets.
The paceman needed to dispose of four of the Farnworth Social Circle batsmen to reach the milestone at Brandlesholme Road on Saturday but, frustratingly, ended with figures of 3-63 in a game brought to a premature end by the rain.
Stewart's triple was the best haul of the home bowlers, with professional Nishit Shetty and skipper Mark Fallon helping themselves to two each, and Martin Kay and Nick Barr getting one each, the latter claiming his first ever first team wicket.
In the reply, Shetty and Carl Ashley were despatched without troubling the scorers, with Andy Bowker departing on 35 and the villagers were on 63-3 when the heavens opened.
It was left to Greenmount's second string to provide the only silverware at the Log Cabin this summer when they clinched the Bolton League Second XI title at the weekend.
Greenmount professional Nishit Shetty has been retained for the 2005 campaign.
The talented Indian all-rounder has clocked up more than 1,300 runs for the Bolton League side this summer and chipped in with 36 wickets.
