WITH reference to the letters reguarding reduced services at Chorley Hospital, I feel that I must respond.
I am a resident of Chorley and work at Royal Preston Hospital and I am disgusted that so many people are more concerned with travelling to visit relatives than with the potential health of the relatives.
To have all services fully functional at both sites would mean diluting all equipment and medical specialists to cover both sites.
But to have RPH set up as a major trauma centre means a concentration of equipment and specialist doctors, and it is easily accessible by land and air.
If the journey is inconvenient for you then don't bother visiting, but ask yourself this - if a relative or friend had a serious accident and was on the brink of death, would it be more important to you that they received all necessary medical intervention to ensure their survival, or would you prefer them to be taken to the nearest hospital for your convenience?
Personally I would prefer to live and have fewer visitors.
