PART of the M60 was closed on Thursday after a woman plunged from a motorway bridge and died.
The 54-year-old woman fell on to the clockwise carriageway from a bridge between junction 22 for Failsworth and junction 23 for Droylsden at around 2.30pm. She was hit by a lorry and pronounced dead at the scene.
Shortly before the incident, at around 2.20pm, officers were called to an address in New Moston following reports that a man had been seen on fire. The 54-year-old was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital suffering severe burns to his legs, back and face and remains in a critical condition.
Police believe the two incidents are linked.
The motorway was reopened at around 6.30pm last night.
