I REFER to your article "Poster Pests Cancelled". This is not new. As long ago as 1994 the late Ted Higginson, Planning Enforcement Officer, Bolton MBC, used his initiative and regularly used a marker pen to write "Cancelled" on bill posters around the town centre.
It is about time that Bolton Council looked at the legislation available for powers to make bylaws to prosecute the owners of premises to which the posters refer, as well as the person who places the posters.
If such powers cannot be found, then be pro-active and get our MPs to seek a Private Members Bill, instead of moaning that nothing can be done, or waiting for some other authority to take the initiative.
