I was very interested in your article on the parking chaos at Bromley Cross station.
I have lived quite near the station for many years, over which time I have noticed the ever-worsening congestion on this busy thoroughfare.
A particular danger faces the pupils of Eagley Junior and Turton Schools as they attempt to weave their way between parked traffic.
Much of the commuter parking is generated from Chapeltown and Edgworth, and a census to prove this point could usefully be carried out prior to my suggested solution.
In years gone by the trains used to stop at Turton station by the old Victoria Mill in Chapeltown. Adjacent, where the old coal yard was situated, is a vast, redundant, concreted surface significantly larger than the car park at Bromley Cross station.
Is it not beyond the wit of man to re-open this station and turn the old coal yard into a car park.
Or has a developer already added the coal yard to his landbank in preparation for another batch of six-bedroom executive detached houses to further escalate our problems in Bromley Cross?
