IF you think a Brazilian is a foreigner, that PJs are simply pyjamas and an ATM is a hole in the wall then you haven't met the Bergdorf Blondes.
Plum Sykes's debut novel - which earned her a reported £400,000 advance - takes you into the world of the pampered Park Avenue Princess where the designer clad (size zero) heiress heroines devote their time and effort to capturing an ATM (rich boyfriend), preferably with a PJ (private jet).
The exception is the book's British-born heroine who tries rather unsuccessfully to keep her job going on a top fashion magazine while keeping up with best friend Julie Bergdorf. It's funny in parts and for fans of Bridget Jones and Sex In The City, it's an ideal beach read this summer.
Bergdorf Blondes by Plum Sykes (Viking Hardback, £10).
