THE world's first Paralympic World Cup is to be held in Manchester.
It will be the biggest competition of its kind outside the Paralympic Games, held every four years, and currently taking place in Athens.
The inaugural World Cup will include track and field athletics, wheelchair basketball, track cycling and swimming.
The two-day competition will take place on May 14 and 15 next year at venues used for the 2002 Commonwealth Games and will be broadcast on BBC TV.
UK Sport, Manchester City Council and the Northwest Regional Development Agency will fund the event, to be broadcast on BBC TV.
