A CHURCH service for the Mayor of Bolton Cllr Prentice Howarth has been held.
Around 100 people attended the service at St Paul's Church, Halliwell, which was conducted by the mayor's chaplain, the Rev Michael Taylor, and included a bible reading from the mayor herself.
As children are the theme of the mayoral year, the service also saw the baptism of three-year-old Emma Sharples, daughter of church members Lee Sharples and Karen Gidman, both aged 32.
Cllr Howarth, who attended the service with some of her five children and 11 grandchildren, said: "It was a lovely service, very children orientated, so Emma's baptism added to it."
Mr Sharples, of Arnold Street, Halliwell, said: "There are not many people who can say they had the mayor at their child's christening.
"She came over for a chat at the end and presented Emma with a crystal goblet, which was a lovely gesture."
