Top Turton add to Dobbies' misery

TURTON FC stormed to the top of Division One after beating Dobbies B 3-0.

Turton are a point clear at the top while Dobbies B remain pointless after losing all three of their opening games.

Garswood United are in second place after losing 2-1 at new team Littleborough who kept their 100 per cent record intact and are ready to challenge for honours in third place.

Dobbies A moved into fourth spot after beating Colliers Rest 5-3, aided by another Brian Howarth hat-trick.

Fox and Stork shared the points with Hare Athletic after a hard-fought 2-2 draw and are now in fifth spot and Elton Vale chalked up their first win of the season, beating Cross Keys 3-1 at home.

In Division Two, Dobbies C are the early pacesetters after beating Daten AFC 2-0.

Newmarket and Park Wanderers shared eight goals in a 4-4 draw which leaves the Wanderers in third spot.

The Bay Mare Strollers kicked off their season with a fine 3-1 home victory over Old Smithillians despite wasting countless chances up front.

Horwich Town maintained their unbeaten run to top Division Three after a tight 1-0 win at home to the Quadrant.

New team The Plough moved into second spot after beating Walkden Wrecks 4-1 away from home with John Barrow scoring two goals.

The Fir Tree are in third spot after crushing the Bowling Green 6-2, helped by a Paul Metcalfe hat-trick.

Lever Bridge lost for the first time as Breightmet United ran out comfortable 4-1 winners and Bolton Wyresdale moved into fifth spot after beating the Cattle Market 4-1 away from home.
