TWO Bolton pet stores are urging dog owners to "go walkies" to raise money for Dogs for the Disabled.
The Pets at Home stores, in Manchester Road, Bolton, and Middlebrook, Horwich, are asking people to commit to taking their dog for a walk on Sunday.
Each person who does so must make a donation of £1 to any pets at Home store to raise money for "Pals with Paws," which trains dogs to help disabled children.
The dogs are trained to carry out everday tasks such as carrying school bags, picking up TV remote controls and playing ball.
The event will be happening nationwide, with celebrities such as Laurence LLewellyn Bowen and Linda Barker taking part.
Linda Whiting from Pets at Home added: "Pals with Paws is a fantastic scheme. Many children with disabilities feel excluded from games that their friends play such as football. But if a dog can be trained to play games they can both enjoy, then it builds their confidence and helps them get involved."
