THE annual Horwich Fruit, Flower and Vegetable Show was a great success despite the poor summer weather.
Now in its 90th year, more than 100 people attended the show, which was held at the newly refurbished Horwich Leisure Centre, Chorley Old Road.
Categories included flowers, vegetables, baking and preserves as well as children's competitions such as poster design.
The day included magnificent displays of chrysanthemums, dahlias, flower arrangements, pot plants, onions, tomatoes, and much more.
There were also vegetables that had been decorated in an Olympic theme by pupils from Horwich Parish School.
Mayor of Horwich Cllr Kevan Helsby opened the event and leader of Bolton Council Cllr Barbara Ronson presented winners with their prizes.
The day concluded with a traditional auction of produce.
Horwich councillor Bob Ronson said: "It was very well attended, especially considering that it has been a slow growing season because of the bad weather this summer.
"This event has been going on for a long time and the local people thoroughly enjoyed it as always."
