AMIR Khan could step back into the ring in an England international challenge match later this year if he remains in the amateur ranks.
The ABA are hoping to secure a televised deal with the BBC, which could begin with England's two internationals against the USA, in November and December. Khan, aged 17, who resumed his studies at Bolton College this week, would be the prize attraction.
England performance director Ian Irwin said: "Our annual match against the USA will this year be on two nights. The first will be in London on Monday, November 29, and then at St George's Hall, Liverpool, on December 3, and Amir could be involved in both events.
"It is in the early stages at present, and we need to sit down and talk to Amir and his coaches about his plans from now until the Commonwealth Games.
"We will have to see what is best for the boxer. He needs a break now and to get back to leading a normal life, because there will be a lot of functions and everybody will be pulling at him.
"But if he can get about six weeks off and then start training again, hopefully he will be involved. We are negotiating with the BBC to broadcast the two events and if we can get television coverage again it will be a massive boost for amateur boxing."
